Gardens & Gardening are good for you!
The Garden Group is not restricted to keen gardeners, it is for anyone who enjoys seeing beautiful gardens and plant displays. In Spring and Summer we have afternoon visits to gardens within the Essex area, who open their gates exclusively for the group in order to raise funds for the NGS (see link) or other charities. An entrance fee of around £8-£10, which usually includes refreshments, is payable direct to the garden owner who passes it on to the charity. Occasionally we might travel further afield.
In the Autumn and winter we have illustrated talks by horticultural speakers about various aspects of gardening. These take place at Boreham Village Hall in the Goodwin Room between 2.00 - 4.00 p.m. There is no fee for joining the Garden Group but the indoor talks have a door fee of £3 to cover speaker and hall hire costs.
There is no meeting in December but in January the group usually meets for a post Christmas meal at a local restaurant, with raffles, garden related quizzes and of course prizes!
