We call ourselves the “Bookworms” because we love reading and discussing books.

We meet at the Black Bull Pub in Chelmsford once a month on a Thursday afternoon.  The pub landlord is very obliging and let’s us occupy a quiet area at the back of the lounge bar where we can order a beer, a glass of wine or a hot beverage. Some of us even get there earlier and have some lunch!

Each member gets the chance to choose a book for the group to read.  At the meeting the proposer of the book will give a brief summary of the book/author and then we will have a round table discussion.

We keep the number of members down to about 14 in order to give everyone an opportunity to contribute.

We have arranged a group ticket with Chelmsford Library but they don’t always have enough copies of the books on our reading list. In this case members of the group may either purchase a copy of the group (new or second-hand) or even download a copy using Kindle or Borrowbox.

We agreed to be flexible in our choice of books, so that when new books come out that we would like to discuss we can alter our schedule.

If you are interested in joining us please get in touch with Jane Hickman.
