Forthcoming events

The Local History Group meets monthly on the first Tuesday of each month. We are interested in all aspects of local history in the Essex area not just Chelmsford.

Our meetings consist of either presentations/talks by recommended speakers or visits to places of historical interest where we are given a guided tour. The indoor talks are held in the Goodwin Room at at Boreham Village Hall, Main Road, Boreham CM3 3JD and our meetings start at 2:15, doors open from 1:45 p.m.

In the past we have arranged very successful and enjoyable visits to places such as the Roman Circus in Colchester, The Moot Hall in Maldon, Ingatestone Hall, Galleyood Common and an extra special Christmas lunch in Layer Marney Tower. The reports of these visits can be accessed under the 'Links' heading on the right of this page.

All new members are welcome. We ask for a small annual subscription of £12 to cover the cost of the hall hire and the speakers fees. Each outing is paid for separately when you book your place.
