This group is nothing to do with crosswords, or any other puzzles. Neither is it about the dry learning of English grammar, oh no this group is all about fun with words.
We use words all the time. We write, we talk, we plan, we do it spontaneously, we put them in poetry, or in music, we write instructions, letters, emails, texts, books. This group will explore the many ways we use words and give members the chance to practice and develop their skills in areas they enjoy, as well as challenging you to use words from a wholly new perspective.
If you like performing, we will certainly look at doing some stage acting, with our own scripts. Performance poetry is marvellous fun, singing a simple sea shanty is a vibrant way to pass time and develop friendships. We all enjoy listening to a comedy set delivered by a talented performer who knows the right word, intonation, where and when to use emphasis, when to increase or reduce the volume. You can do the same, it is not as difficult as you may think!
You may prefer to write short stories, for adults or children, or you may be working on a book, perhaps your life story to pass down as a family heirloom. If you have an idea for a script for a play you could bring it to the group, refine the script and ask others to perform it. You may like to write, perhaps even perform, some comedy sketches, either written by others or by you.
You may simply want to enjoy the synergy of being part of a group and developing and sharing ideas that would never occur to us if we were otherwise in an empty room.
In our life time every one of us has listened to, or read, words that made us smile, cry, inspired us, destroyed us, entertained us, bored us, changed us, shamed us.
